Where to watch the 2025 Met Gala in Australia

Here we are, somehow on the precipice of yet another Met Gala. Somehow it is May, and tomorrow morning, for Australians at least, we will be privy to yet another edition of the Metropolitan Mueseum of Art’s Costume Gala – affectionately known as ‘The Met Gala’.

The carpeted front steps of The Met will once again play host to a myriad of creatives, designers, internet personalities (particularly know that TikTok is a sponsor), and of course, plenty of musicians and actors.

We know a few things about this year’s Met Gala already – including the theme, dress code, co-chairs and red carpet hosts – but what you may not already have intel on is when and where exactly we can watch this year’s event from Australia.

For Australians, it can be a little difficult to figure out when and where the Met Gala will be streaming and how to keep abreast of all the news coming out of the other side of the world. Luckily for you, we’ve done all the research to give you the low-down on how to best set up your remote viewing party for tomorrow morning.

What time does it start?

It will be Tuesday morning (6 May) in Australia when guests begin to arrive on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York

The Met Gala red carpet will begin at 6pm in New York, but for Australians, this means it will be starting at the following times:

  • 8am AEST: ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria
  • 7:30am ACST: Northern Territory and South Australia
  • 6am AWST: Western Australia.

Where can I watch it?

Australian viewers can watch the E! coverage live from the Met Gala red carpet via 7Bravo and 7plus.

You can also watch the E! coverage on their YouTube channel livestream, which we’ve linked below.

What is the 2025 Met Gala theme?

This year, the Met Gala theme will honour a Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Of course, that’s not to be conufsed with the dress code, which is derived from the theme itself. This year, the dress code is ‘Tailored For You.’ According to Vogue, this dress code is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and is “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.”

We’ve also broken down the difference between the Met Gala theme and dress code, for those who want to delve a little deeper.
