I want to know if there’s some special facial tool or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian and New Zealand beauty experts to share the top three products they can’t live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be anything, as long as they’re the three they value the most.
Recently, we were lucky enough to snoop inside the kit of Australian makeup artist and hair stylist, Shella Martin (@shellarubymartin). A quick scroll through Shella’s Instagram will leave you feeling inspired to get more creative with your own makeup. Her eye for beauty is polished and masterful, but always playful, whether that’s through a wash of lilac eyeshadow, a star-shaped stencil or captivating graphic patterns.
It’s safe to say that Shella has tried more beauty products than most people will ever get their hands on in their lifetime. So when she says something is good, it must be really good. Below, she shares her three all-time favourites.
Product one: Kryolan Supracolor Paints

How did you discover this product?
I first discovered these trying to include paints in my kit for a variety of jobs, but I also didn’t want to invest in something that was potentially going to spill through my bags.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
I needed to have so many colours for the various briefs, so I chose these as I was able to have an oil-based colour that I could easily blend, would never dry out and mixed fast if I had to create additional shades. Not to mention it removes fast without staining skin (with either Bioderma H2o and a cotton pad or a face oil) and can be a quick custom pop up palette on set.
Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?
Buy it online or in-store at Kryolan. I couldn’t recommend it more for artists working between the commercial and editorial space.

How did you first discover this product?
Five years back, after my favourite YSL liner discontinued, I stumbled across this sleek fine specimen.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
I love the formula because it doesn’t look different after it dries, it doesn’t crack or feather in macro shots. And it doesn’t slip off after the skin starts to generate a little oil or heat when you wear it all day.
It has the double-ended option, for days when you need to take slow and steady strokes vs days you think you can do it without even looking.
Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?
I recommend it to anyone and everyone, all ages all skill levels. You can get it from Myer, Mecca, or David Jones. There is also an artist discount available.

How did you first discover this product?
