Burberry has always been synonymous with the British weather. The drizzle, the downpour, the damp afternoons that fade into misty evenings – this is where the brand’s heritage has always found its footing. For Summer 2025, Burberry leans into this legacy with It’s Always Burberry Weather: London in Love, a campaign that turns the city’s unpredictable skies into the backdrop of a modern love story.
For the campaign, Daniel Lee distills the essence of Burberry’s romance with rain into a cinematic spectacle, drawing inspiration from late 90s and early 2000s British rom-coms. Think Notting Hill meets Love Actually, but with a thoroughly Burberry twist – where meet-cutes happen under the shelter of an impeccably cut trench, and declarations of love are punctuated by a well-timed downpour.
At the heart of the campaign is a series of seven short films, each one a vignette of everyday romance in London. They are charming, a little chaotic, and deeply familiar – mirroring the city’s unique ability to transform even the most mundane moment into something cinematic. An A-list cast delivers these love stories with effortless charisma: Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet leads alongside Aimee Lou Wood, Jodie Turner-Smith, Nicholas Hoult, Micheal Ward, Richard E. Grant, Chen Kun, Son Sukku, and a trio of supermodels – David Gandy, Liu Wen, and Naomi Campbell. There’s even a Burberry Knight in shining armour, though strictly in a non-speaking role – because sometimes, style speaks for itself.
For Nicholas Hoult, stepping into Burberry’s vision was an experience that felt both intimate and nostalgic. “I loved this idea of British rom-coms,” he shares. “Their sensibilities are some of the greatest ever made, and I loved the idea of playing tribute to those.” The actor, known for his chameleonic roles, relished the chance to work with an ensemble cast that brought the campaign’s vision to life. “We got to film on the South Bank with Jodie Turner-Smith, who is someone I’ve wanted to work with for a long time, so that was incredible.”
More than just a romantic homage to the city, the campaign is a celebration of Burberry’s long-standing reputation as the go-to for rainwear. The trench coat, a Burberry signature since its invention, is recast for Summer 2025, with seasonal silhouettes that embrace both tradition and reinvention. “I bought a black Burberry trench coat in a charity shop when I was a teenager,” Kate Winslet says. “My daughter now has it, it looks much better on her than it ever did on me!”
The campaign extends beyond film, spilling into Burberry boutiques with immersive in-store activations and window displays that echo the romance and unpredictability of London’s streets. Like any great love story, It’s Always Burberry Weather is an ode to passion and place – proof that no matter the forecast, Burberry is always ready for love, and for rain.
