Legacy in every stitch: SABEN’s ‘Muse’ collection pays homage to timeless elegance

Often, it seems, fashion is the business of what’s new, what’s next. But for its Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, SABEN looked to the past for inspiration.

Aptly titled Muse, each new piece in the forthcoming line pays tribute to Sarah Saben, the grandmother and beloved muse of SABEN’s founder, Roanne Jacobson. The result? An array of styles that feel equal parts timeless and contemporary; simultaneously paying homage to SABEN’s rich design heritage, while also embracing a future-forward vision.

Sarah’s influence can be felt in every piece of the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. In particular, Roanne was inspired by the elegance and grace of her legendary walk-in wardrobe. This space was not only a reflection of style, but also a treasure trove of memories—its contents laden with the wisdom that fashion is more than what we wear; it’s about self-expression, simplicity, and the stories woven into the fabric of the pieces we reach for, day in and day out.

Roanne has also often spoken of the profound impact Sarah had on her own approach to design and life. The collection draws from the wisdom passed down through generations, making Muse not just a celebration of style, but a meditation on legacy and memory. In a time when fast fashion dominates, this collection invites us to slow down and reflect on the lasting value of the things—and the people—that truly matter. It makes sense, then, that the silhouettes championed in the new collection are designed with timelessness in mind. The June bag, for example, has all the makings of our new favourite everyday style, with an elongated twist that allows for sleek, generous space. Then there’s the Elliot, a mini purse reminiscent of a drawstring jewellery pouch – the kind that’s brimming with cherished heirlooms. And somewhere in between the two is the Dane, designed to be a lifelong companion on your arm, seamlessly accompanying you from day to night. 

The craftsmanship is similarly considered, imbued with the kind of thoughtful detail that takes a style from fleeting to lifelong. There’s silky-soft lamb leather which marks a new design direction for the Elliot and Ellis styles, plus diamond quilting, chevron weaving, and luxe embossing bringing new dimension to these modern-day heirlooms. The colour palette also has a mind for longevity — whether you gravitate towards the cool serenity of the vintage duck egg, or the earthiness of the rosemary, each colour was conceptualised with your existing wardrobe in mind.

The campaign reflects a similar ethos. Shot by renowned Australian photographer Georges Antoni, each image embodies the duality of nostalgia and newness at the heart of the campaign, via wistful hues and sculptural shapes. Combined, the elements of the campaign not only highlight the artistry of 
the collection, but also invite viewers to reflect on the stories 
and emotions that these pieces embody.
