Here at Fashion Journal, we think the best brands are the ones that go beyond product offerings – the ones that challenge convention, honour individuality and above all, cultivate a true sense of community.

This past week in Sydney, as Fashion Week goers filled the streets of Everleigh in a dazzling sea of colour, Espolòn Tequila carved out its own space in the spotlight, hosting a series of thoughtfully curated events that championed personal style and unapologetic authenticity, hard-launching a year-long partnership with Second Life Markets.

Speaking on the partnership, co-founder of Second Life Markets, Meg Charnaud, noted, “Second Life Markets is all about honouring individuality and preserving stories through fashion. Partnering with Espolòn Tequila allows us to amplify this vision, giving pre-loved garments new life, celebrating bold choices, and inspiring people to embrace their own style without boundaries.”

It’s a shared commitment to self-expression and rewriting the rules that perfectly echoes Espolòn’s latest To the Bone campaign, an ode to authenticity and living boldly.

SUPPER CLUB

To celebrate Espolòn’s year-long partnership with local event curators, Second Life Markets, the week kicked off with an intimate – yet unexpected – supper club at Sydney’s Machine Hall on Thursday.

60 of the city’s brightest fashion aficionados gathered for a night of connection and creative exchange, bonding over shareplates, personal style musings, and some of Espolòn’s finest tequila pours with original twists and flair.

As conversations flowed around an ambient dining space, the evening took an unexpected turn. In the blink of an eye, the tablescape was transformed into a runway of vintage fashion, a nod to the drama and glamour from the golden age of 90s catwalks.

Models made their way down the tables in bold archival looks curated by veteran Second Life Markets sellers, Lillian Scott and Michelle King. Bouncy hemlines and ruffled collars floated down the runway, with nostalgic numbers from the likes of Miss Sixty and vintage Prada taking centre stage.

At its core, the evening was a celebration of circular fashion and playful self-expression. A reminder, amongst all the ‘newness’ on display at Australian Fashion Week, that excitement can come from the old – you just need to put your own spin on it.

ARCHIVE POP-UP SALE

To bring the experience full circle, each runway look was made available for purchase at the Espolòn Original Archive Pop-Up, held at Second Life Markets’ sale on Saturday and Sunday.

Over the course of the weekend, Machine Hall drew a vibrant crowd of fashion lovers, stylists and vintage collectors alike, all eager to snap up some one-of-a-kind finds with unique stories to tell. Each piece on sale was accompanied by a swing tag detailing its past – a tribute to the history woven into each and every garment we own. From archival ’90s Prada leather boots to the flared trousers worn by Foxy Brown in Sisqó’s ‘Thong Song’ video, each item carried cultural weight far beyond aesthetics.

As shoppers perused the racks, they enjoyed an assortment of Espolòn’s signature cocktails with friends. Better yet, those who purchased a piece from the pop-up were treated to a complimentary drink – a refreshing twist on classic cocktails, all crafted with Espolòn Tequila.

The weekend welcomed the first of many events to kick-off the partnership, with more pop-ups, markets, and immersive experiences still to come, including the highly anticipated Reverse Cloakroom. Set to appear at some of our favourite local venues, this unique activation blends fashion, sustainability, and culture, inviting guests to exchange cocktails for curated vintage finds, all to the beat of boiler-room-style DJ sets and framed by exclusive art installations.
