Australian Fashion Week is just around the corner and the team at Fashion Journal are simply counting down the days until it’s here. With the full list of designers having just been announced, we couldn’t be more excited.
Returning for another year at Carriageworks in Sydney, Australian Fashion Week is set to take place from May 12 to 13. This comes after a period of limbo following IMG’s exit as a major backer, which saw the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) step forward to take its place.

In 2025, the AFC is set to produce Australian Fashion Week with support from the New South Wales government and Shark Beauty as the official event partner. This year will see a range of new and emerging names in Australian fashion, as well as many known and loved designers returning to the program.
Among the Fashion Journal team, we’ll be looking forward to seeing Beare Park return for another year, following founder Gabriella Pereira’s award for Emerging Design of the Year at the 2024 Australian Fashion Laureate Awards. We’ll also be craning our necks, trying to glimpse other favourites, including Alix Higgins, Mariam Seddiq, Romance War Born and Wynn Hamyln.

We’re also excited to see the designers making their debut on the AFW stage. Showing for the first time will be workwear label Farage, fashion and lifestyle brand Nagnata, and cult favorite Sir the Label.
We always have our eyes on the up-and-coming designers in Australia, those who are making waves in the industry. Grouped together under the ‘New Gen’ umbrella are the designers Miimi and Jiinda, Haluminous, Permanent Vacation, Buluuy Mirrii and Boteh.

Adored returnees will be Aje, Bassike, Carla Zampatti, Gary Bigeni, Iordanes Spyridon Gogos, Lee Mathews, Macgraw, Nicol and Ford, Bianca Spender, Carla Zampatti, Joseph and James, Hansen and Gretel, Christian Kimber, Karla Spetic, Liandra and Ngali.
2025 will also see ‘The Frontier’ group, housing names including Esse, Matin, Courtney Zheng, Common Hours, Wynn Hamlynn and Amy Lawrence, the last of which recently took home the National Designer Award X David Jones at PayPayl Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Australian Fashion Week is a celebration of creativity, talent and community, giving designers a national stage to amplify and showcase their work and we couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s returning for another year.
The full AFW program will be announced soon, and we’ll be sure keep you posted on any and all updates as they come.
