I appreciate the title of this blog post is a big call. Huge in fact. But after trialling and testing many pairs of heels over the years (including many pairs designed to be comfortable), ladies and gentleman, we have a clear winner. Yep. One pair of heels that stands above the rest. It’s… *drum roll please*… the Ally Shoes Kitten Heels. I have two pairs that have been on rotation for the past couple of years – this mocha brown pair that is hands down, my favourite pair of work heels – period – and this joyful saffron shade which is my statement pair of the two – in a very of-the-moment colour. As you’ll be able to glean from the outfit imagery that accompanies this post, the kitten heels have been on regular rotation, particularly the mocha pair (in light of aforementioned favouritism).

Now I’ve timed this post for those of you getting back into the swing of work now that the world’s longest January is done and dusted. Personally February is the time of year where I hone in on the workwear gear that has properly served me from the previous year to set me up for success for the year ahead. If you’re looking to revamp some of your workwear basics, particularly shoes, allow me to introduce you to a most excellent pair.
Shoe design (+ why they’re so comfy)
The Kitten Heels from Ally Shoes feature a 2 inch (or 5 cm) heel and offer a boost of height while being walkable at the same time. They’ve got a classic pointed toe with a stylish stiletto heel. As is the case with all of the styles from Ally Shoes, the Kitten Heels are customisable and made to order. They’re offered in inclusive sizing from US 4 to US 12 and offered in half-size increments as well as four different widths, making these as close to custom-fit as possible while maintaining a reasonable price tag. There’s a huge range of colours and leather finishes to choose from – so you’ll be able to customise a pair of heels to match with your personal style.
But it’s their comfort features that truly set them apart from the rest thanks to their patented ergonomic support which includes:
- a padded sole
- arch support
- strategic toe cushioning (personally I LOVE this)
- a deeper heel cup; and
- stretch lining (to minimise any need for breaking-in the shoe)

I’ve been fortunate enough to test a few other styles from Ally Shoes – all of which are comfortable in their own right (that I’ve also reviewed on the blog over the years). But it’s the lightweight, low heeled design that makes the Kitten Heel style stand out for me. The deeper heel cup is noticeable, as it feels like my feet are securely inside the shoe (there’s nothing worse than having ill fitting shoes at the heels that constantly rub against the back of your foot where you’re prone to painful blisters). But it’s the toe padding that is most excellent. It’s soft, spongy, and your toes aren’t moving around or tensing while you’re going about your day. If like me, you were a corporate lemming from the good ol’ days and punished your feet in 3” stiletto heels for the sake of… well, I don’t know what really but we all did it didn’t we (!), then this pair will be heaven in contrast. I should also point out that there is another 2 inch style from Ally Shoes – the Lower Block Heel, which as the name suggests, has a block heel instead of a kitten heel if you prefer something with a bit more heft. All of the comfort design features are mirrored across all the shoes, so it boils down to personal preference as to what heel / height you prefer.

About Ally Shoes
Ally Shoes is a NYC-based label, founded by Samantha Dong who, at the time, was working her way up the corporate ladder in Silicon Valley when she decided to disrupt the footwear industry by designing shoes that are actually comfortable. She built a team, which importantly included a podiatrist, to design pain-free heels, and the rest is history. All of the shoes are custom made in China from premium materials.
