These men were everywhere: in Operation TORCH, the invasion of Sicily, the landings at Anzio, the liberation of Rome, and finally, the push through France and into Hitler’s backyard. They were awarded more medals than any other U.S. infantry division and were the only unit to fight Axis forces on every European front.
