This month’s guest edit star needs no introduction. Acclaimed interior designer and guest editor of RUSSH Home, Tamsin Johnson, is an excellent curator. So, when we had the chance to peak inside her wishlist items – those which she already holds in her possession and those she is dreaming of – we jumped at the opportunity.
From fail-safe outwear to vintage Mario Buccellati bracelets and the leather diary she can’t travel without, here, Johnson takes us through the pieces she’d hunt down in every lifetime.
ALEX EAGLE The Varsity Jacket
I’m slowly beginning to curate my wardrobe for the cooler months, and this made to order varsity jacket by London designer Alex Eagle will definitely fill a hole in my outerwear. Casual enough that it can slip into my every day but with luxurious materials such as a 100 per cent camel hair bodice and lambskin leather sleeves to help elevate any look.
CHRISTOPHER ESBER Gondola Suede Tote
I’m leaning towards green with a few of my accessories, and this east-west style from Christopher Esber has my eye. I like how functional the minimalist flap opening is for pulling things in and out, and the suede finish helps add texture.
JAEGER-LECOULTRE Reverso Classic Duetto
A piece that’s impossible not to fall in love with, I always feel complete with this timepiece on my wrist. The Duetto style with its dual face is one of my favourite features – almost like choosing a different ‘character’ every time I wear it.
P. JOHNSON Caroline Slip Dress
There is nowhere this dress can’t go. Timeless and elegant, its classic silhouette can transport and transform. I personally like to style it with flats and my favourite gold necklaces – preferably when I’m somewhere warm.
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Sweet Alhambra Ear Studs
A little red hugging the ears is one of my favourite ways to incorporate colour in a subtle way. The Alhambra is an iconic piece for a reason, and I particularly like the colour play with the carnelian.
THE ROW Soft Leather Loafers
A shoe that needs no introduction. It’s a favourite for a reason, I would look for these in every wardrobe in every lifetime.
JUJU VERA Shell Lighter Case
Because lighting candles is more fun with a conversation-starting lighter. The kind you’re happy to leave out on the table.
A Dictionary of Colour Definitions
For when you’re in need of inspiration, open the pages of Sanzo Wada’s pages. Within, you’ll find 348 colour combinations, as attractive and sensuous as the books own design. Take as much as you can from every page.
BODE Athalia Beaded Shoulder Bag
Because everyone deserves a totally fun, completely unserious bag in their wardrobe.
MARIO BUCCELLATI Vintage 1960s Gold Squares Bracelet
We all have wishes, and mine happens to be this Mario Buccellati Vintage 1960s Gold Squares Bracelet. The Italian designer was a master craftsman, and it shows in the quality of his gold work over 60 years later. I know we belong together.
HERMÈS Rare 90s Gold Peccary Kelly Sellier 32
Hermès has since discontinued its use of Peccary leather, so when I came across this vintage 90s Kelly Sellier, I knew I had found a rare piece. The bag is the ideal size for everyday wear, and there’s something particularly special about a piece that comes with its own history.
BALLY Plume Moccasin
In honour of the so-called ‘Fisherman’s aesthetic’, this modern interpretation of a classic boat shoe comes right on time. The small loafer heel makes this piece truly versatile.
ALAÏA White Knit Molded Bodycon Dress
I have found myself in need of a party dress and no one does it better than Alaïa. The moment this dress debuted down the runway, I knew. It’s the kind of silhouette and cut that demands attention. Pieter, you’ve done it again.
P. JOHNSON Camel Hair Double Breasted Raglan Overcoat
No wardrobe is complete without a staple camel coat. If you’re like me, oversized is best to allow for optimum layering underneath. Coats like these should be bought and passed down – so enjoy them.
A YOUNG HIKER Drei Berge Mountain Shoes
Thanks to a new hobby, I’ve now added mountain shoes to my staple wishlist. But these aren’t just any hiking boot – no chemical plastics are used in the shoes, and the eye-catching design, led by artistic director Ramdane Touhami, brings the world of hiking and sneakers together. Definitely a mountain boot I can get amongst.
SMYTHSON Portobello Diary
In the name of being organised (and luxurious).
OLIVIA BOND DIAMONDS Yellow Gold Pavé Bow Brooch
Brooches have always been a part of my accessories collection, and this piece from Olivia Bond Diamonds is perfect and playful for the everyday. Pin to the lapel of your favourite blazer, or in place of a cufflink for a unique touch.
The Best of Nest: Celebrating the Extraordinary Interiors from Nest Magazine
No one was doing it like Nest Magazine. Joe Holtzman eschewed the conventionally beautiful luxury interiors of other magazines and instead featured non-traditional, exceptional, and unusual environments, becoming a leader in his space. This collection of some of his best issues is essential reading – or viewing.
Joe Colombo – Smoke Acqua Water Glass
Recognisable in every setting, the simple pleasures of daily hydration become instantly more enjoyable with this glass in hand.
